Privacy policy

Information we collect

• Account details: your name, email address, and the stable account identifier supplied by Google or Apple when you choose that sign-in method.
• Receipt and purchase details: merchant, date, items, totals, order status, saved offers, loyalty activity, and support requests connected to a receipt.
• Imported receipts: information you confirm after scanning a paper receipt. Camera access is used only when you choose to scan. Tapyme stores the confirmed receipt fields and the cropped receipt image you approve so the original receipt remains viewable in your vault.
• Location: your browser may share a rounded location only after you grant permission for nearby discovery. Tapyme sends it to the server to rank nearby participating businesses, keeps the rounded choice on your device for convenience, and does not add it to your public profile.
• Notifications and device data: a browser push subscription and notification preferences when you enable alerts, plus ordinary security and operational information such as request time, device/browser type, and network address.
• Merchant information: business profile, connected POS identifiers, campaign content, policies, customer-service cases, and aggregate performance data for merchant accounts.

How we use information

We use information to deliver and organize receipts, report order progress, save offers, support returns or exchanges offered by a merchant, prevent fraud, operate merchant tools, improve receipt recognition, and maintain the security and reliability of Tapyme. Personalized promotions are controlled by the preference in your account; turning marketing off does not remove access to receipts.

When information is shared

We share only what is needed with the participating merchant connected to a purchase, identity providers you choose, POS providers a merchant connects, hosting/database and notification providers that operate Tapyme, and authorities when legally required. We do not sell payment-card data, and Tapyme does not receive or store full card numbers.

Promotions from another participating business are clearly labelled. A merchant does not receive another merchant’s customer list from Tapyme.

Retention and deletion

We keep account and receipt information while your account is active so your vault and customer-service history remain available. Some operational records may be retained for security, dispute, tax, accounting, or legal obligations. Merchant transaction records can remain in the merchant’s records after you delete your Tapyme account, but they are no longer linked to your customer account inside Tapyme.

You can download your information or permanently delete your account from Profile → Privacy, or use the web account-deletion page. Deletion removes your sign-in identities, customer profile, private imported receipts, saved offers, preferences, and customer support requests from the active service, subject to the limited legal obligations above.

Your choices

• Control order, case, marketing, personalization, and lock-screen notification preferences in the app.
• Disable camera, location, or notifications in your device settings.
• Download an account export from Profile → Privacy.
• Delete your account in the app or on the web.

Security and children

We use encrypted HTTPS connections in production, HttpOnly sign-in cookies, access controls, and hashed session tokens. No service can promise perfect security, so please contact us immediately if you believe your account was misused.

Tapyme is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly create accounts for them.

Contact and changes

We may update this policy as the product and legal requirements change. The effective date above will be updated, and material changes will be communicated through the service when appropriate.
